Action Asia: Indonesia Issue

FROM HONG KONG with love. What else you can say when both deputy editor and editor-in-chief of Action Asia magazine (based in Hong Kong) finally released their Indonesia Issue for Action Asia’s newest edition (May/June 2015).

And they really meant it.

With the tagline ‘Best Adventures in Asia’, this magazine tries to offer Indonesia for everyone: rainforests to reefs, surf to cephalopods (quirky undersea creatures), volcanoes to vibrant tribal cultures.  I really love how they managed to capture the pictures of Java’s forgotten rhino deep in Ujung Kulon National Park.  I like the way they spread Indonesia’s main islands into more than 30 full pages with beautiful pictures & great stories (of course it’s a special edition, man!). Even James, the deputy editor, made his own sketches of all the islands, traditional houses, temples, fruits, and many else.

It’s more than just the intention of grabbing the world’s attention of Indonesia’s potential market, but this edition has truly come from the heart because I know that both editors are ‘cinta mati sama Indonesia‘.  Regularly once or twice a year they come to odd places across the archipelago, even they’ve bookmarked more places in Indonesia than I have.

One little thing that makes this special to me is because my friends and I also made appearance in News & Views. We were asked about some memorable adventures in the country, tips for the first-timers, and places on our wishlists.

Readers in Indonesia can grab the magazine in Periplus bookstores. If you prefer a digital version, just simply follow the links to subscribe provided in Action Asia website.

Disgiovery yours!

If you notice more than two familiar faces in this Action Asia’s spread, then you really are an Indonesian travel blogging enthusiast 😉

  1. Hatur nuhun for this, Badai – it was a pleasure to work with you and the other travel bloggers in this special issue. If we had another month maybe we’d have 50 pages of Indonesian content! Knowing your way with words, I should really have asked you to write a feature story. 🙂

  2. Waaah finally. Can not wait to have this issue on hand. Seems that James put all of his heart to his works. Those Istano Basa Pagaruyung details are so great! 🙂
